Utah Master Series: Stanley Wanlass

  • Salt Lake Art Museum 249 South 400 East Salt Lake City, UT, 84111 United States (map)

On August 21st, join us in honoring Stanley Wanlass, an internationally renowned sculptor, painter, and designer. His monumental bronzes and dynamic automotive art have shaped the legacy of the American West and earned global acclaim. A professor emeritus who has taught at institutions across the globe, Wanlass is the latest inductee into the Salt Lake Art Museum’s Utah Masters series.

Wanlass’ monuments, from his massive “Surf II” sculpture in Everett, Washington to his iconic Lewis & Clark series on the Long Beach Peninsula, immortalize history with dramatic flair. His automotive sculptures are included in private collections worldwide. His commissioned work is included in the collections of the Hutchings Museum (UT), Muhlenberg College (PA), and many others.

For this special event, SLAM will be interviewing Stanley Wanlass and discussing his creative philosophy. The talk will be accompanied by an exhibition of select sculpture and other artworks, offering a glimpse into the breadth of his work.

Admission is free, but reservations are required (RSVP)
