Pilar: The Beautiful Land of My Reality

Pilar Pobil’s artworks bridge the gap between two continents and cultures. In 1956 she immigrated from Mallorca, which she termed “the island of my past and dreams,” to Utah, “the beautiful land of my reality.” Nowhere is this intersection more evident than in her house, a sanctuary where Pilar came into her own. She covered every surface with art encapsulating her experience as an immigrant and storyteller. This exhibition evokes Pilar’s home—her own multi-layered, beautiful land where past and present collide.
